In the later stages of the competition, Imanizabayo and Ayelegn emerged at the front of the pack before the race intensified in the final meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With approximately <strong>250 meters<\/strong> remaining, Ayelegn attempted to increase her pace in a final push but struggled to maintain the speed, allowing Imanizabayo and Samia Hassan to overtake her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two athletes continued running side by side at the front until the closing meters, when the Rwandan runner accelerated and edged past Samia Hassan, securing victory by a very small margin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gold medal won by Imanizabayo in Accra is <strong>the first gold medal ever won by Rwandain the history of the African Athletics Championships<\/strong>.The achievement marks another milestone for the <strong>30-year-old athlete<\/strong>, who recently also won gold in the 5,000 meters at a championship in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comments reported by Olympics, Imanizabayo expressed her joy after the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am very happy; the emotions overwhelmed me. Before this race, I told myself that I had to win it.
