As Rwanda continues to search for emerging talents who can contribute to the future growth of its football, a number of young Rwandan players are developing their careers in competitive football environments abroad. Among them is Alain Persie Shimwa, a promising forward who is making a strong impression in Canada, where he has become an important player for C.S. MHM U18 M IR in the Ligue de D\u00e9veloppement de Soccer Montr\u00e9al U18 Division 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born with Rwandan roots, Alain Persie Shimwa currently represents C.S. MHM U18 M IR (Centre Social de Montr\u00e9al \/ Club de Soccer Mercier\u2013Hochelaga\u2013Maisonneuve), a club based in Qu\u00e9bec that focuses on the development of young football talents and provides players with a structured environment to improve through training and competition. The club\u2019s youth football structure gives players opportunities to develop their technical abilities, tactical understanding, and the mentality required to progress in the sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operating as a forward or attacking midfielder, Alain was promoted from the U16 category to U18 after demonstrating rapid development that impressed his coaches. His move to a higher age category reflects his ability to compete against older players while continuing to grow in areas such as technical execution, decision-making, and football intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 2026\u20132027 season, Alain Persie Shimwa has played a significant role in the performance of his C.S. MHM U18 M IR team in the Ligue de D\u00e9veloppement de Soccer Montr\u00e9al U18 Division 4. After 10 league matches, his team has recorded eight victories and two defeats, without any draws, collecting 24 points. The team currently sits second in the league standings, behind Blizz\u2019Or, which has accumulated 28 points after 11 matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His attacking output places him among the most productive players in the competition, currently ranking fourth in the U18 Ligue de D\u00e9veloppement de Soccer Montr\u00e9al scoring charts, behind Malik Mongeau (24 goals), Zidane Bibi (19 goals), and Winner Ilombi Ngano (11 goals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His return of nine goals in 10 matches represents a significant attacking contribution, particularly for a player competing in his first season at the U18 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the numbers, Alain\u2019s profile shows characteristics commonly valued in attacking players. For Alain Persie Shimwa, football represents more than his current performances in Canada. The young Rwandan player has ambitions of reaching the highest levels of the sport, with dreams of playing for major clubs in Europe and eventually representing the Rwanda national team. These ambitions reflect the objectives of many young talents who use international football development pathways as a step toward professional football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His performances in Canada also highlight the importance of identifying and monitoring Rwandan talents developing abroad. Several African nations, including Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, have benefited from following players with roots in their countries who developed outside Africa and later became options for their national teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Rwanda, many young players with connections to the country are currently developing in Canada, Europe, and North America. Establishing consistent systems to identify, monitor, collect information, and evaluate these talents could play an important role in strengthening future national teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this stage, Alain Persie Shimwa\u2019s ultimate level in football remains unknown. However, his performances so far provide reasons to continue following his development. Being among the leading scorers in his competition, contributing to a team competing near the top of the standings, and continuing to develop at an important stage of his career make him a player with a promising path ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
