Rwanda has hosted the Basketball Without Borders<\/em> (BWB) camp for the first time, bringing together 60 young players from across Africa to be trained as future basketball stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 21st edition of the camp kicked off on Saturday, August 23, and will run until August 26, 2025. Participants, both boys and girls, are receiving on-court and off-court training from NBA and WNBA coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kati Matungulu, Head of Operations at NBA Africa, said the camp aims to inspire and nurture young talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is the first time we are holding this camp in Rwanda. It equips young players with knowledge and skills through mentorship from some of the best coaches in the NBA and WNBA,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also emphasized the program\u2019s long-term impact, noting that it has produced some of the game\u2019s biggest names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver the past 21 years, this camp has developed top players such as Joel Embiid, the NBA\u2019s Most Valuable Player for the past two seasons, and Pascal Siakam, one of the standout performers in this year\u2019s NBA Finals,\u201d Matungulu added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the 60 participants, four Rwandans were selected: Bizimana Kayira Plamedie, Mwimba Ndoba Gabriel, Mwesigwa Sean Williams, and Ingabire Liliane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
