The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested several men seen on video beating an individual at the offices of Munanira I Sector in Kigali City.
The footage, recorded by local residents, shows one of the men wielding a stick and striking the victim, whose identity is unclear. Bystanders in the video express concern, stating that the acts are illegal. One person says, “Stop beating this man,” while another adds, “You are hitting someone on the head, and he is already restrained.” Another observer warns that the violence could result in death.
RIB reports that, in collaboration with other security agencies, the suspects were apprehended for assaulting the individual at the Munanira I Sector offices in Nyakabanda Cell. Among those involved were individuals wearing uniforms of professional security guards in Kigali.
Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault and injuries inflicted on the victim. They include professional security personnel: KAREMERA KANANGA, NTIHABOSE Jean de Dieu, SIBOMANA Tharcisse, NDAYISHIMIYE Elia, and NTAKIRUTIMANA Alexis, aged between 22 and 50.
The suspects are currently held at the RIB station in Rwezamenyo, and their case is under investigation before being forwarded to the Public Prosecution Authority.
RIB reminds the public that anyone engaging in acts of violence, even under the guise of official duties or positions, will be held accountable under the law, and urges citizens to refrain from participating in such behavior.
