Police in Kamonyi District have arrested 12 men suspected of engaging in criminal activities that threaten public safety, including theft and vandalism of public infrastructure such as electricity cables.
The suspects were apprehended during the night of September 26 to 27, 2025, in Bugarama Cell, Kayenzi Sector, Kamonyi District.
Southern Province Police Spokesperson, CIP Kamanzi Hassan, confirmed the arrests, noting that the group had been disturbing residents and further endangering the community by damaging power lines. He emphasized that the suspects were taken into custody to face justice in accordance with the law. “All those arrested are currently being held at Kayenzi Police Station, where investigations have already begun,” CIP Kamanzi said.
He commended residents for embracing the culture of timely reporting, which helps prevent crimes before they occur.
CIP Kamanzi also urged individuals who persist in negative behaviors that disrupt peace and security to change course, stressing that the Police will not tolerate anyone who engages in acts that undermine public order and stability.
