
The Nyarugenge Primary Court has found Arnold de Bosscher, popularly known as DJ Toxxyk, guilty of the charges brought against him and ordered him to pay a fine of Rwf1.5 million. The court also sentenced him to three months of community service, which was suspended for six months.The verdict was delivered on Monday, May 4, 2026, following several hearings during which the court reviewed evidence presented by both the prosecution and the defense in the case involving the well-known Rwandan entertainer.According to the court’s ruling, DJ Toxxyk was convicted of several offenses, including manslaughter, fleeing the scene after causing a traffic accident, suspected involvement in drug-related activities, and refusing to undergo an alcohol test.
In its judgment, the court stated that the accused must pay the Rwf1.5 million fine and serve three months of community service. However, the community service sentence was suspended for a period of six months. The court also ordered his immediate release, noting that he had already spent time in pre-trial detention at Nyarugenge Correctional Facility since his arrest. DJ Toxxyk was arrested on December 21, 2025, following a traffic accident that occurred in the early hours of December 20, 2025, in which a police officer on duty was killed.
Investigations indicated that after causing the accident, the suspect left the scene before later being arrested in Karongi District. During the investigation, security authorities also conducted a search at his residence, where substances suspected to be illegal drugs were reportedly discovered. Under Rwandan law governing crimes and penalties, manslaughter is punishable by a prison sentence ranging from six months to two years, a fine between Rwf500,000 and Rwf2,000,000, or both penalties.
The case attracted significant public attention across the country due to the seriousness of the charges and DJ Toxxyk’s prominence in Rwanda’s entertainment industry.
