Niyigena Clément’s contract with Al-Hilal SC terminated before he could start playing

Niyigena Clément – one of the top football players in Rwanda.

In a sports talk on SK FM today, 13/05/2026, journalist and radio host Sam Karenzi announced that APR FC defender Niyigena Clément was released by Al-Hilal SC in Sudan after failing to comply with the contract he had signed.

As reported in the sports talk, “The Supreme Court of Sports,” Niyigena had signed a four-year contract with the Sudanese club but did not start playing for it. Reports also say that he continued to play in the Rwanda Premier League while the contract was still in effect.

The player has been a hot topic within the Al-Hilal SC circle for some time, although no party has ever officially confirmed the news that he had signed.Sam Karenzi said that although Niyigena had already signed a contract, it was eventually terminated when he began to show unwillingness to honor it, forcing the club’s management to make a difficult decision.

He said:

Clément was released from Al-Hilal SC without playing.”

The source added that Al-Hilal SC management tried to call him several times to discuss and inform him about his post-season work schedule, but he reportedly continued to avoid them.

This led the Sudanese club to decide to permanently terminate the contract it had with defender Niyigena Clément.

In the future, it is reported that Niyigena has already reached an agreement with APR FC to extend his contract, where he could receive a bonus of more than 100 million RWF, along with a salary increase.
