Kampala, Uganda – Internationally renowned dance group Triplets Ghetto Kids is set to make history after being invited by global music superstar Shakira to help entertain fans during the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The news was confirmed after Ghetto Kids released a video of themselves dancing to Dai Dai, a new song by Shakira and Burna Boy that was selected as one of the tracks promoting and supporting activities related to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The video quickly went viral across social media platforms and eventually reached Shakira, who was highly impressed by it. After seeing the positive reception their talent received from fans around the world, Ghetto Kids posted a message on social media saying:
“Hey Shakira, yes we want to perform with you! This would be a dream come true for us and for Uganda and Africa.”
The message reaffirmed their desire to share the stage with the singer best known for songs such as Waka Waka, the official anthem of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to international media, Shakira revealed that she had already invited Ghetto Kids to take part in the halftime show that will be held during the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
She said: “I’ve already invited the Ghetto Kids from Uganda.”
This will mark the first time in FIFA World Cup history that a major halftime show, similar to those traditionally associated with the Super Bowl in the United States, will be staged. The event is expected to transform the way fans experience the final of a tournament watched by billions of people around the world.
For Ghetto Kids, the invitation is regarded as a major milestone in their journey to showcase the talents of African youth. The group has spent many years gaining international recognition for its exceptional dance performances and has participated in various global events, including talent competitions, concerts, and television programs watched worldwide.
Entertainment analysts say that sharing the stage with Shakira and Burna Boy represents a significant opportunity not only for Uganda but also for highlighting the talents of African children and young people before a global audience.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 final is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2026, when football and music fans from across the world will turn their attention to the unique performance expected to feature some of the most prominent artists and dancers on the international stage.
For the members of Ghetto Kids, the invitation represents far more than simply participating in a show; it is a testament to the idea that talent can emerge from anywhere and reach the highest levels when given the opportunity to shine.
It is also a source of great pride for Uganda and the African continent as a whole, at a time when its youth continue to demonstrate their ability to compete on the international stage in entertainment and various other fields.
