The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has once again been accused of carrying out killings targeting the Banyamulenge community, sparking fears that the AFC/M23 coalition may be forced to resume fighting against the Congolese army and its allied groups, including Wazalendo militias and the FDLR.
This is not the first time the DRC has been implicated in such actions. However, what has raised concern is that these attacks are happening at a time when both sides are engaged in peace talks aimed at finding a lasting solution to the country’s security crisis.
Observers are now questioning the potential impact of these incidents on the ongoing negotiations, an issue discussed in detail in the program Tubijye Imuzi.
