Following the decision to strip Déborah Djema of the crown she had won to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo at Miss Universe 2025, organizers of the competition have swiftly announced her replacement.
Djema lost the title after refusing to sign the official contract required by the pageant. She had requested changes to the agreement, but organizers insisted that no alterations could be made for her personal interests.
In a statement, Miss Universe DR Congo organizers confirmed that Dorcas Dienda Kasinde has been appointed as the country’s new representative. She will compete at the Miss Universe pageant scheduled for November 2025 in Thailand.
What surprised many observers is that the crown was not passed on to the first or second runners-up of the national contest. Instead, the organizers chose Dorcas, who is already known on the international pageant stage.
Dorcas Kasinde has previously won the titles of Miss Africa DR Congo and Miss Calabar in 2018. She has also taken part in several other international competitions, although she did not always complete them.
