Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that a Palestinian state will never come into existence, insisting that much of the land claimed by Palestinians rightfully belongs to Israel.
He made the remarks on September 11, 2025, while endorsing a new plan to extend Israeli control over the West Bank, saying that the entire territory is part of Israel.
“We are going to fulfill our promise that a Palestinian state will never exist. This land is ours, and we are going to double the population of this city,” Netanyahu said.
The plan approved by his government includes the construction of 3,400 housing units for Israelis, along with other infrastructure projects to accommodate them in the disputed area.
In response, Palestinian government spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh reaffirmed that East Jerusalem will always be the future capital of Palestine. He accused Netanyahu of putting the West Bank in danger by advancing such policies.
Palestine is not recognized as a fully independent state. Although it has a government, it does not control its borders or airspace, both of which remain under Israeli authority.
Israel has repeatedly resisted calls to grant Palestinians full sovereignty and continues to expand settlements in areas internationally regarded as occupied Palestinian land.
The West Bank remains one of the most contentious territories in the conflict, with both Israelis and Palestinians claiming ownership and maintaining populations in the region.
