John Blaq Opens Up on Love, Fame, and Being a “Ladies’ Man”

Ugandan Afrobeat sensation Kasadha John, popularly known by his stage name John Blaq, has lifted the veil on his private life, confidently embracing the title of a “ladies’ man.”

In a candid televised interview on Monday, the singer tackled swirling rumors about his relationships, clarifying that while the public has never seen him unveil a girlfriend, that doesn’t mean he is single. “I may have someone, but it’s not yet the right time to bring her into the spotlight. Everything has its season,” he explained with a smile.

From Humble Beginnings to Stardom

Born in Jinja, Uganda, in 1996, John Blaq grew up in a modest background where music was both an escape and a passion. His breakthrough came in 2018 with the hit single Tukwatagane, which instantly made him a household name in Uganda and across East Africa. Known for his distinct husky voice and catchy beats, he quickly carved a niche in Afrobeat and dancehall circles.

Over the years, John Blaq has released chart-topping tracks such as Do Dat, Makanika, and Hullo Bae, collaborations that not only showcased his versatility but also expanded his fan base beyond Uganda. His ability to blend street slang with polished Afrobeat rhythms has turned him into one of the most bankable young stars in the region.

The “Ladies’ Man” Image

Blaq admits that his stage persona has always been tied to women and relationships, something he deliberately leaned into as part of his brand. “People call me a ladies’ man, and I don’t run away from that. It’s part of who John Blaq is,” he said.

However, he also reminded fans that behind the music and fame is a man who values privacy.

“I want some parts of my life to remain private. I don’t know everything about my fans’ personal lives, so why should they expect to know everything about mine?” he asked rhetorically.

Past Controversies

The singer has previously been linked to fellow artist Vanessa, known for her past relationship with musician Ziza Bafana. In 2020, intimate videos of the two appeared online, sparking heated conversations in entertainment circles. Vanessa would later downplay the affair, explaining that she had been in a vulnerable moment in her life.

Despite such controversies, John Blaq has managed to keep his career on an upward trajectory, staying focused on music and his steadily growing audience.

Looking Ahead

Now in his late twenties, John Blaq says he is more determined than ever to balance his music career with his personal happiness. He hinted that when the right time comes, he will not hesitate to introduce his partner publicly. Until then, he wants his fans to appreciate his artistry without demanding to know every detail of his private affairs.

With a bold personality, a string of hit songs, and a loyal fan base, John Blaq continues to cement his place as one of Uganda’s most charismatic entertainers  and perhaps, as he happily admits, East Africa’s true “ladies’ man.”
