The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) was a special guest at the Gen-Z Comedy event, where Colonel Désiré Migambi Mungamba, the Head of the RDF’s Civil-Military Cooperation Department, delivered a powerful message to young people about responsibility and opportunity.
During the “Meet Me Tonight” session an interactive segment dedicated to a guest speaker Col. Migambi was invited to engage with the youth, reminding them of the vital role their generation must play in shaping Rwanda’s future.
He reflected on Rwanda’s liberation struggle, which was led primarily by young people, and called on today’s youth to preserve and build upon the achievements made by their predecessors.
“Young people today are privileged,” he said. “You have grown up in a peaceful country that is rapidly developing, with access to technology that can help you learn and innovate. But above all, you have the blessing of good leadership.”
He continued, “The first thing you should be proud of is that we have great leadership that truly serves Rwandans. We have a President who has done everything possible for us. If you fail, it will be your own responsibility. Roads have been built, opportunities exist now it’s your turn to show what you can do, because the political will to support you is already there.”
Col. Migambi also cautioned the youth against self-destructive habits such as alcohol abuse and drug consumption, noting that some young people waste their potential on such behaviors. He urged those attending Gen-Z Comedy to focus on discipline and purposeful living.
In addition to Col. Migambi’s address, veteran artist Massamba Intore also spoke at the event, highlighting the crucial role of art and music during Rwanda’s liberation struggle. He shared how artists used their talents to raise funds, inspire unity, and motivate young people to join the fight for freedom.
The lively Gen-Z Comedy show featured performances from several renowned comedians, including Rufendeke, Pirate, Umushumba, Kaduhire Kadudu, and others, blending entertainment with inspiration for Rwanda’s emerging generation.
