Rwandan singer Igor Mabano is preparing to release a reworked version of his song My Way in collaboration with Haitian artists Steves J. Bryan and DT Keyz, both of whom are based in the United States.
The announcement comes just two months after Mabano first dropped the single. He revealed that the collaboration began after the Haitian artists discovered the track online and reached out to him.
“They came across the song and really liked it. They asked me if we could rework it together,” Mabano explained. “They first contacted me through Instagram since we had never met or known each other before.”
The Rwandan star said he agreed to the partnership after reviewing the artists’ musical profiles and noting their impressive streaming numbers on digital platforms.
“After seeing their request, I took time to check their presence on music platforms. Once I realized they had strong numbers and that the collaboration would be mutually beneficial, we agreed to work together,” he added.
Mabano launched his music career in 2017, but it was his breakthrough hit Iyo Utegereza that cemented his status as one of Rwanda’s leading voices in contemporary music. He was previously affiliated with KINA Music, though both sides have remained silent about the reasons behind their split.
