Ugandan star Pius Mayanja, better known as Pallaso, has teamed up with Kampala’s fast-rising Abeeka Band for his latest single “Marry You.” The track marks the singer’s first collaboration with a live band, an experience he described as both inspiring and unforgettable.
Formed in 2021 by former members of Janzi Band, the five-piece Abeeka Band has quickly made a name for itself on the Kampala music scene. Known for their high-energy performances and eclectic sound, the group blends Afropop, R&B, and contemporary rhythms to create a distinctive style that resonates with fans.
Praising the Band’s Professionalism
Pallaso spoke highly of Abeeka’s artistry, saying he felt honored to work alongside such skilled musicians. “You can feel the professionalism and experience they bring to the table,” he said.
The singer added that the band’s vocal abilities immediately stood out to him. Despite his years in the industry, Pallaso noted that Abeeka pushed him to experiment with his voice in new ways something he believes has elevated “Marry You” into a special project.
A Fusion of Sounds
The single combines Pallaso’s signature Afropop flavor with Abeeka’s soulful live instrumentation. The result, he explained, is a “magical collaboration” that fans should look forward to.
Often described as East Africa’s most vibrant boy band, Abeeka is composed of Pages, Kevin, Michael, Producer Allan, and Dr. Trey. Beyond studio work, the band maintains a packed performance schedule, appearing weekly at popular Kampala venues such as The Villa, Garden Light Café, Paradigm, Lazio, La Cueva, and Catwalk.
With “Marry You,” Pallaso and Abeeka Band are poised to deliver one of the year’s most talked-about collaborations bringing together the best of live music and Afropop for audiences across the region.
