The nationwide search for Travis Decker has come to an end after federal authorities confirmed he is dead.
According to newly filed court documents obtained by TMZ, the U.S. Marshals Service officially declared Decker deceased. Law enforcement sources say human remains discovered last week near Leavenworth, Washington, were identified as Decker’s through a positive DNA match.
Decker’s body was found Thursday during a police search in the Cascade Mountains, ending a months-long manhunt.

Authorities allege Decker killed his three daughters 5-year-old Olivia, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 9-year-old Paityn in June. The children were discovered at a remote campsite with plastic bags over their heads. Investigators also recovered additional bags, zip ties, Decker’s truck bearing a bloody fingerprint, and his dog nearby. Forensic testing linked the DNA evidence on the bags and zip ties to Decker.

The case began on May 30, when the girls’ mother reported them missing after Decker failed to return them following a scheduled custody visit.
With the confirmation of Decker’s death, authorities say the investigation into the tragic killings is now shifting from a manhunt to a case review.
