Cardi B is rejecting persistent rumors that she was strategically placed in hip hop to disrupt its balance — particularly Nicki Minaj’s dominance.
Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of Call Her Daddy, the “I Like It” rapper clarified that her success came naturally, not through any hidden agenda.
“I was destined to be famous,” she explained, stressing that no label brought her in to tear another artist down. Although she avoided saying Nicki’s name directly, the implication was clear. The whispers date back years, fueled by a leaked Ye clip claiming Cardi was “an Illuminati plant” meant to replace Nicki.
Cardi acknowledged that she’s clashed with peers in the industry, but rejected the idea that she’s out to sabotage anyone’s career. “Sometimes people just don’t vibe with each other,” she said. “That doesn’t mean I’m here to trample on someone else’s success.”
Her rivalry with Nicki Minaj remains one of the most notorious in rap history, reaching a boiling point at New York Fashion Week in 2018 when Cardi infamously threw a shoe at Nicki.
On her latest project Am I The Drama, Cardi calls out fellow rappers BIA and JT, as well as her estranged husband Offset, showing how personal grievances continue to shape her music.
Nicki, on the other hand, seems poised to respond in her own lane. She teased her forthcoming album on X (formerly Twitter), announcing that the highly anticipated follow-up to The Pinkprint will arrive in March 2026 coinciding with Cardi’s tour dates.
With both stars vocal and unafraid of confrontation, fans should brace for more headlines and more heat in the months ahead.
