Qing Madi Says Nigeria’s Music Industry Fails to Support Women

Nigerian singer Qing Madi has voiced concerns that the country’s music industry does not favor women, but instead places significant obstacles in their way.

Speaking recently on Wahala Podcast, Qing Madi revealed that female artists often face a lack of support and safety, and are frequently criticized unfairly.

She said:
“Women have to work twice as hard as men to achieve their goals. And most times, they get criticized even when they’ve done nothing wrong. Men don’t face these same challenges; they are free to do whatever they want. But for women, society tries to make things harder by setting unnecessary limits.

I go through this myself, and it’s shocking because I’m only 19 years old. So what do you expect me to do? Women don’t get any breaks. That’s why I’m proud to be a female artist in Nigeria, and I celebrate every woman in the industry because it takes so much strength to be one of them.”

Qing Madi emphasized that being a female artist in Nigeria requires immense dedication, urging that young women who continue to work hard deserve recognition and support.
