Rwanda Showcases Tourism and Investment Opportunities in Germany

Rwanda’s Ambassador to Germany, Igor César, has presented the vast tourism and investment opportunities available in Rwanda to audiences in the German cities of Cologne and Munich, highlighting the country’s natural beauty and growing hospitality sector
Ambassador Igor made the remarks during the conclusion of the Rwanda Tourism Roadshow, organized by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) under its Visit Rwanda initiative, in partnership with the Rwandan Embassy in Germany and the Tourism Chamber of the Private Sector Federation (PSF).
The roadshow took place from October 13 to 15, 2025, covering three major European cities — Utrecht in the Netherlands, and Cologne and Munich in Germany where tourism and investment stakeholders were introduced to Rwanda’s offerings.
Ambassador Igor described Rwanda as “the Land of a Thousand Hills,” emphasizing that visiting the country offers travelers a unique chance to experience its rich culture, scenic landscapes, and warm hospitality.
He explained that tourists traveling from Kigali can explore Rwanda’s four national parks Nyungwe, Volcanoes, Gishwati-Mukura, and Akagera each offering a diverse range of attractions, from mountain hiking and primate trekking to savannah safaris. “Rwanda has heavily invested in infrastructure and service delivery to ensure that visitors, including those from Germany, enjoy a world-class experience,” Ambassador Igor said.
He noted that these efforts aim not only to enhance visitor satisfaction but also to protect the environment and promote inclusive development among communities living around tourist destinations.
Over the past three decades, Rwanda has made significant progress in wildlife conservation. Ambassador Igor highlighted the successful reintroduction of lions and both black and white rhinos to Akagera National Park, transforming it into a “Big Five” destination featuring lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos.
He also emphasized Rwanda’s community-based tourism model, which ensures that local populations benefit from tourism revenues. Since the revenue-sharing program began, Rwandan communities living near national parks have received over 18.1 billion Rwandan francs, funding 1,191 community projects aimed at improving livelihoods. “These initiatives ensure that communities around the parks become the backbone of inclusive and sustainable tourism,” he said.
Germany currently ranks among the top 10 source markets for tourists visiting Rwanda. Ambassador Igor expressed optimism that continued partnerships and promotional efforts will further strengthen ties and attract more European visitors.
He encouraged participants to visit Rwanda and explore its natural beauty, while fostering stronger cooperation between Rwanda and European countries in the tourism and investment sectors.
