Bridge Records to Reopen After 10 Years

After a decade of inactivity, Bridge Records is preparing to reopen, its founder and CEO Jacques Uwizeye has confirmed.

In an exclusive interview with Africa Diplomacy, Uwizeye revealed plans for the relaunch, saying:
“Bridge Records will be back next year. It will operate with a focus on supporting artists, and we are confident that it will succeed.”

Uwizeye also announced the launch of a new media platform under the Bridge brand, which will include Bridge TV Show, the news website Bridgenews.com, and Bridge Radio. The radio station is expected to broadcast across several East African countries, although further details are yet to be disclosed.

Established in 2009, Bridge Records played a significant role in nurturing Rwandan music talent before shutting down in 2015. Uwizeye, who has since been based in Canada, explained that the closure was due to conflicting visions with the management team he had appointed, as well as disputes with some artists.

During its active years, the label was home to notable producers such as Junior Multisystem and Piano The Grooveman, among others, who were behind several hit songs that helped shape Rwanda’s music scene.

In 2014, Uwizeye decided to close the studio permanently, selling its equipment to Top5Sai.
