Charlie Kirk, an American conservative activist best known as the founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was shot and killed while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University.
The fatal shooting occurred on Wednesday during Kirk’s ongoing “American Comeback Tour,” a series of talks he had been giving at universities across the country.
Witnesses reported that Kirk was struck in the neck and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting, though investigations are still underway.
Former President Donald Trump, in a statement shared on social media, confirmed the death of his longtime ally. He described Kirk as an “extraordinary man” and expressed deep sorrow over his loss.
Born on October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Kirk grew up in a Christian family. He attended Wheeling High School, where he developed a strong interest in leadership and political discussions.
In 2012, at the age of 18, he founded Turning Point USA, an organization dedicated to promoting conservative values among young Americans. The group emphasized individual liberty, Christian principles, and limited government, quickly spreading across college campuses nationwide and playing a significant role in mobilizing youth support for the Republican Party.
Beyond activism, Kirk also worked as a media personality, hosting radio shows and creating online content where he consistently voiced his support for Republican ideals and criticized Democratic policies. His outspoken advocacy and strong partnership with Trump made him one of the most influential conservative figures among young Republicans in recent years.
